Facial Hair Friday, Week 16

4 Dec

Ho ho ho, merry everyone! Yes, that’s right, I’m talking about Christmas again. That’s because here at Lara and the Reel Boy we believe it is the most wonderful time of the year (unless David doesn’t… I’ll just assume he does because I do), what with all the magic in the air and fantastic themed films. And who represents Christmas better than this beautiful bearded man?

No, not the guy in the background with the blaster (though he does have a rather nice mustache), the man in the foreground, Santa Claus.

Santa Claus! For those of you who are appalled that I don’t have a picture of Jesus as the best representation of Christmas, keep in mind that at Christmas we celebrate Baby Jesus. And for all the amazing things Baby Jesus does and embodies, he does not have facial hair.

Now back to Kris Kringle. You might be wondering why a man with a tea kettle and an antennae on his head is pointing a gun at Father Christmas. It’s because this isn’t just any Santa, but the Santa from Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, in which Martians come down to Earth to capture Jolly Old Saint Nick. If you’ve never heard of it or seen it, I pity you and urge you to go now and Netflix it, old-school rent it, or buy it, whether it be the original movie or the Mystery Science Theater 3000 version, and add it to your yearly Christmas traditions. It is truly the worst movie ever.

Glad I’m not a Christmasless Martian,

Love it! One of the best (worst) Christmas movies of all time. Although, not quite as awesome as Christmas Evil and his superglue-d on beard, but definitely above Santa’s Slay and Goldberg’s Son-of-Satan rendition of the Santa legend.

Loving the look of this place right now.

Any chance we’re going to get one of those “Best of the Decade” style posts out of you guys. You’re spin on it would be a welcome part of otherwise standard lists!

anyone who wants to can download Santa Claus Conquers the Martians free and legally because it’s in the public domain! (which is why mst3k can rip on it)
