Facial Hair Friday, #61

15 Jul

Today marks the end of a ten year journey for many of us.  Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 is released today, and while I can’t even begin to describe the excitement I am feeling about seeing this movie in a few hours, this is also quite melancholy.  There was a glorious period of time where we could wait for both the next movie and the next book to come out.  Those days ended when the book this movie is based on was released in 2007.  At that point, the excitement became solely focused on the films.  And now that’s ending too.

So, while I am thrilled about this afternoon, I would be lying if I didn’t admit how sad I am too.  I’ve been to midnight premieres of both books and movies in this series.  As far as I can remember, there’s not another series out there that can claim that honor from me.

But I thought the best way to honor this event would be to celebrate one of the best examples of facial hair in the history of film.  Or perhaps I should say the lack of it in this case.  Here is the great and talented Robbie Coltrane at the premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.

He’s not sporting the incredible facial hair he does in the movie, sadly.  But that’s forgiveable because of how glorious it is in the films.  Just look at this.

Amazing.  And a spine-tingling image from the new film at that.  I can’t wait.  I also don’t want this to end.  I’m very confused, and I’ll probably be an emotional wreck in a few hours.

feeling rather at a loss,

david
